Chicago Drive (Lyrics and music by Bud Roberts)

Years before 30 below was born, I was a small time writer. This was one of my first. It described the first house my wife and I moved into in Burnsville, MN. The perfect party house!

394 Sucks! (Lyrics and music by Doug Dittbenner (punctuation for Kurt))

After a number of times on the Old 12 hwy, my feelings became more angry when I sat stopped in traffic as the lane to my left was empty...yes the sane lane! This was the very first song that I wrote and it came at the beginning of the start of 30 Below. It was the most gratifying as well because we all worked together as a band to work out the arrangements and the harmonies. This was also the first song that the fans started to identify the band with, and even started singing the words and music at our performances...there is nothing like it when Bud stops singing and the crowd yells out the words!

Man on the Loose (Lyrics by Bud Roberts, music by 30 Below)

A hard, blues driven song with roots from Muddy Waters and John Lee Hooker in mind. Nothing but heart ache and down times, as the blues are known for. The lyrics just came to mind as I was traveling to Duluth one weekend. Go figure??

Take the Day Off (Lyrics by Doug Dittbenner, arranged by 30 Below)

A song that Sal worked out on the guitar a while back. I took it and put a concept to it...the concept of not wanting to work. What a thought! It takes you through a typical work week of what we all think and wish we could do...take Friday OFF!!! I had a couple of folks in mind when I wrote it down on paper...

Tin Man Tap (Lyrics and music by Doug Dittbenner)

My favorite tune on the CD by far. I think this tune is the most musical from a melodic standpoint. It tell the story of when Bud and I were in Chicago for business and then had to make the St. Patrick's Day voyage to the bar "Tin Man Tap" A couple of friends, Seth and Dan owned this Chicago pub of which were fraternity brothers of Bud. Our goal was to go back and perform the song Tin Man Tap at the bar itself, but famed beer joint is under new ownership and is now an Irish Pub...looks like a new song may be in order...

With You (Lyrics by Bud Roberts, arranged by 30 Below)

A true love song for my wife Kris. This was slow and became faster as the band tore it apart. Bastards! But it now remains our signature "corny love song".

My First Job (Lyrics and music by Doug Dittbenner)

A song that will get you going and tap your toe in a heartbeat. I took my personal experience of moving to the big city of Minneapolis after getting my first job. The Monte Carlo, the protege, the Passport, and the debt were true...Suzie was not. Could be a double meaning if you thought real hard about the lyrics, but this was never the intention of the song. Enjoy this snappy tune and think of your first job and see if it brings any memories!

Pain (Lyrics by Bud Roberts, arranged by 30 Below)

Written over lunch one day at Dougs house. He had the cords, I wrote the lyrics, the band did the additions and arranging. My favorite song on the CD. Words with no real underlting meaning, just deep and hard.

South St. Paul (Lyrics and music by Bud Roberts)

My wife, being born and raised in South St. Paul, was the inpiration for this early tribute to the town. I sang it at my wedding and soon it was a hit for the locals. Old SSP to most of our fans. The tune is catchy and is never meant to be anything but a toe tapper.

Who Do You Know (Lyrics by Bud Roberts, arranged by 30 Below)

Sal's baby! This was arranged and written by the entire band. I may have written the lyrics, but they were influenced by our sound and our passion for fullness. The ending is nothing short of heart pounding. Can't asked for anything more than that.

Z-Wantaneo (Lyrics and music by Doug Dittbenner)

One more song about real life in the day to day escapades of Doug Dittbenner. Actually wrote this tune the day we got back from Mexico and has been coined "the Mexico Song" The tune talks about just hanging out by the pool with some great Mexican food and the girls in their Bikini's. Life was good for a week in the Sun!

Together In Heart (Lyrics and music by Bud Roberts)

Was written and performed by me with a certain person in mind; my bosses son, Spencer. This was a charity event song that was put on the album for them and no other reason. It is touching and creates a small lump in ones throat. All the power to you big guy Spencer!
